Plans to build on the field next to the School

A planning application for the development of the field next to the School is likely to be considered at the next meeting of the Wyre Planning at 2pm on 6th January 2021. This is the third and final phase of development permitted under the Wyre Local Plan approved
a couple of years back. Both the Parish Council and the Governors of Inskip St. Peters School have raised objections to aspects of the proposed plans:
1. Visual impact of the development on arriving in the village – under the current plan the first sight of Inskip the visitor arriving from a westerly direction would be the backs of a row of 2-storey terraced houses as viewed across the drive to the School;
2. The impact of 2 storey dwellings overlooking the School – which would allow residents to overlook the school drive with a full view of the school frontage & entrance and also a view of the playground!
Both the Parish Council and the School Governors have proposed alternative designs that we feel meet the needs of the developer and the local community – suggesting that the 2-storey terraces be replaced by siting single and/or one and half storey properties (the developers ‘Mearley’ and ‘Grizedale’ designs) along the school boundary. But to date the developer won’t budge. And unless there are overwhelming objections then we expect that the application will go through with just a nod. Let’s make our views heard!
Don’t forget whatever development finally goes on this site will be there for a very long time. That’s a long term blight on the village appearance and generations of children who attend the village school.
