Proposed Housing Development – Planning Application 16/00481/OUTMAJ

Residents may recall a planning application in 2014 to develop 40 dwellings at land south of Preston Road in Inskip, opposite the entrance to Manor Road. Whilst that application was rejected by reason of its scale and location and the village’s lack of existing local services a smaller scheme to develop 27 dwellings on the same site was approved by Wyre Council – and building work started earlier this year. A further planning application has now been submitted to Wyre Council by the same landowner, Metacre Ltd, to develop another 55 dwellings at land both south and north of Preston Road.

This new proposed development is adjacent to the current development on the south side of Preston Road and also takes in part of the field on the north side of the road backing onto Manor Road, West Drive, and North Drive. The application can be found at the Wyre Council website at the following location: http://www.wyre.gov.uk/planningApplication/43831

The Parish Council feel that this scale of development would fundamentally change the rural character of the Inskip community – and if this latest planning application is successful then there is a very real risk that Metacre, who own a significant amount of agricultural land directly abutting the village, might well put forward in the near future even more land for development here at Inskip. So this application may well be the “thin end of the wedge”.

Letting Wyre Council know your views is your way to influence the planning process, and residents are encouraged to submit comments or objections as soon as possible and by 30th June 2016 at the latest – in writing to Wyre Council Planning department at the following address:

Wyre Council, Civic Centre, Breck Road, Poulton-Le-Fylde, Lancashire, FY6 7PU

Or by email to: planning@wyre.gov.uk

Or make your comment or objection online at: https://www.wyre.gov.uk/forms/form/21/en/comment_object_or_support_a_planning_application

Don’t be fooled into thinking that if you responded to the Metacre / De Pol survey back in April that your views will be taken into account. They won’t. Only by feeding your comments or objections directly to Wyre Council can they form part of the planning decision process.

And if you feel strongly about it you could do what the Parish Council has also done and that is lobby our MP, Ben Wallace, who can be contacted via his web site at:

http://www.benwallace.org.uk/

Or by email to: wallaceb@parliament.uk

One final suggestion. An action group has been set up in Great Eccleston to oppose large developments there and they are keen to work with people from other rural communities. They can be contacted by email at: Gteccactiongroup@outlook.com

Public Access Defibrillators

Inskip-with-Sowerby Parish Council have arranged for the installation of three Public Access Defibrillators (PAD) located at the Derby Arms, Inskip Baptist Church, and at the YIPS Centre. The provision of resuscitation equipment is vital anywhere, but particularly important in our rural location and the Parish Council would like to thank the British Heart Foundation, who generously funded the equipment, the North West Ambulance Service and the Red Cross, who have provided advice and guidance and have supported training sessions in resuscitation held at the YIPS Centre, the Derby Arms, and the Baptist Church, and Mr. Mike Emmington who installed the equipment for us.

Children Playing in School Lane

Residents in School Lane have raised with the Parish Council concerns that there might be a serious road traffic accident in School Lane where children play in the hedge adjacent to the playground and tennis court and the Parish Council have been liaising with Wyre Council, who own the playground and tennis court to see how they might be able to reduce the risk. If you have children who might play here then please make sure that they play safely – and make sure that they don’t jump into the road from the hedge in front of oncoming traffic.

Blackpool Championship Dog Show

The annual Blackpool Championship Dog Show will be taking place for the second year at their showground in Pinfold Lane on 24th to 26th June 2016.

Parish Council Website

The Parish Council will be launching a website in the near future. This will allow members of the public access to Parish Council minutes, accounts, and news on-line. Just as soon as details have been finalized we’ll be publicizing the web address.

Wyre in Bloom

Thanks are due to Councillor Alan Lingard and his willing band of trusty volunteers (Dianne and Jennifer) for the planting out the flowers in the beds and planters, which look lovely. The judging for Wyre in Bloom will take place on Friday 22nd of July and any help with keeping the village looking tidy and watering and weeding any of the flower beds and planters, if need be, that would be much appreciated.
