Housing Development on Preston Road  

Wyre Borough Council granted approval for the erection of up to 27 dwellings on land fronting Preston Road (opposite Manor Road) despite representations made by the Parish Council in response to the results of the ‘Have Your Say’ survey. More than 60% of households responded to the survey with over 80% opposed to the development.

Lancashire Best Kept Village Competition  

Inskip was awarded the title Most Improved Village (Small Village Class) 2014 and the Parish Council would like to thank all residents for their efforts but especially our lengthsman, Mr Andrew Maxfield of Derby Crescent, for his unstinting endeavours.

Parish Council Vacancies  

Clerk to the Parish Council 

The Parish Council (PC) are seeking someone, preferably local to the village, who is a good administrator and organiser, IT literate and has a sense of public duty in wanting to help our community. Previous employment in an administrative role within a Local Authority may be advantageous. The successful applicant will be an employee of Inskip-with-Sowerby Parish Council and would be responsible for ensuring:

  • that the PC conducts its business lawfully
  • the administration of all the PC paperwork
  • the proper preparation of all meeting papers and giving public notice
  • of meetings where appropriate
  • the implementation of the PC decisions
  • the proper management of the PC finances to include the monthly submission of payroll information to the HMRC.

The successful applicant would be expected to attend a minimum of 12 meetings per annum all held within the village and undertake other PC business from their own home/office utilising their own PC, Printer etc.

It is estimated that the current workload for the Clerk equates to an average of five hours per week but in recognising the potential for this increasing the PC would ask that any applicant takes that into consideration.

Parish Councillor

The PC are seeking to co-opt a member for the duration of the current Council term ie to April 2015. In order to be considered any applicant must:

  • be aged 18 years or older
  • be a British citizen or eligible Commonwealth or a member EU state citizen.
  • be registered on the Electoral Role for the Parish or qualify by reason of

the terms contained the Electoral Commission’s Parish & Community Council elections in England & Wales Guidance for candidates Part 1.
